Best Western Hotel Santakos was the first hotel in Lithuania to become a member of Best Western International Hotel chain. It is located at the merging point of Old Town and the City Centre of Kaunas, in the quiet J. Gruodžio street. Built in 1895 as a wine cellar with ascetic exterior, 100 years later, in 1995, the building was transformed into a cosy hotel with elegant exterior; later it was one of the first to become a prestigious ‘visiting card’ of the city. In 1999, the hotel was the first to be awarded the four-star rating. Best Western Hotel Central was opened in the first hotel established in Druskininkai in 1909. Parents of Jacques Lipchitz (1891-1973), a world-known Jewish sculptor and modernist, owned this hotel under the name of Central. Today Hotel Central has been restaurated and is looking forward to welcome guests again.
